by Jeph Johnson
Dignified, through somber nights
she falls and still remains upright
and sends the world her shining smile
through a darkness that's defiled
In her eyes the mess reflects
back purified, asking respect
For in youth and charm wisdom is rare
yet it is found behind her stare
Ambition finally lets her see
the woman who she wants to be
She's confident in all she does
yet inside, gentle, because
she knows, despite her tender face,
she must confront other's disgrace
