Roadside critters
try to travel
our cement roads
with us,
but our vehicles
are too much
for their fragile small bodies.
Our vehicles
are massive
in not only size,
but, also, weight.
With one moment
of a loss of control,
our vehicles
overtake the road
and those poor wandering critters.
These critters
find themselves
crushed, pinned, trapped, hit
by us.
Instead of stopping
to take care of them
or clean up their remains,
we leave them
to be eaten
in front of everyone.
We care not
to give a funeral
or give respects
for the dead
roadside critters.
We leave them
in our wake
and blow them off
as roadkill.
