Sonnet Lament
I can’t write any more my mind is mush,
thirty days of sonnets has burnt my brain.
Maybe I should just twist my ear and flush,
causing it to swirl and circle the drain.
I think it is time to write some free verse,
forgetting about meter and all rules.
I don’t want to go mad and need a nurse,
finding myself in a roomful of fools.
Yes, going free is what I need to do,
concentrating on content verses rhyme.
That is just the medicine I require,
before lighting up to get higher and higher.
Writing what I feel from deep down inside,
until all this stress begins to subside.
