2003 Poetry Candles burning hot in assorted colors,
along with the sound of singing off key.
It's an odd way to celebrate an event,
that we all go through to begin our life.
Is it really a cause for celebration at all,
with the state of the world as it stands.
Terror and evil attempting once again,
to control the path of human society.
I suppose some are happy to be ignorant,
of what goes on in the next town or street.
Which possibly seems to explain a country,
which had the philosophy of let them eat cake.
