The lesson to Sofia
It is a sunny day in the big city of Mexico are two young ladies where talking and laughing together, just passing the time, they have been friends since kinder garden and they know each other perfectly, they are like sisters. Sofia is the name of one of them, she has her long blonde hair, big eyes and beautiful skin, when all got near her they look at her; she is perfect from the out side but she is devastated from the inside, her father died from cancer a few months ago and she is just mad and frustrate. Montse her best friend is always trying to support her but it is really difficult for a young girl to help her in her pain.
The mother of Sofia is even more shocked; it seems like she hasn´t something to live in this world. Montse and Sofia are always together so and most of the time the mother is in mad mood and yelling at Sofia and she starts to get used to this type of life.
It is 23th of May and for Sofia it is a normal day she wake up and dress up for school, when suddenly a message from Montse arrives to her cell phone, and it says that some friends where at the town and they need to go out with them. Sofia doesn’t thought and say immediately yes, one hour had passed and Montse arrives to Sofia´s house they were ready to go outside, when the mother comes drunk, and screaming:
-Sofia! You didn´t even bother in bought me flowers; you know what day it is?, It´s my birthday…
Montse couldn’t believe what saw next, at the beginning she felt guilty and bad for both of them, but then she just stared at her friend and the mother and for a moment Montse could feel what the mother and her best friend was felling.
Sofia got out of the house. She starts to run through the streets with tears in her eyes. She run in the streets without knowing where to go. After a while, she stopps running and continue walking. She thinks about what happen before she started to run. Sofia feels bad about that so she decides to think in other stuff. She continue walking, seeing kids playing in the park, people talking, etc. Some hours after, she starts to be hungry so she decided to go to a little restaurant. When she arrive to the restaurant, she asks for an order of tacos and she pay with the money that she was going to use with Montse. When she finish to dinner, she go out and start to walk alone again.
When she pass another park, she sees a boy with her same age sitting alone in a chair. She continues walking but that boy reach Sofia and ask her if he can walk with her. Sofia is a little scared but when she sees him, she says yes. They starts to talk:
“What is your name?” Sofia says
“Jaime and yours?” answer the boy.
“Sofia”
“Why are you walking alone? It is dangerous,”
“I can’t? Why are you alone?” she says a little angry.
“Sorry, I didn’t mind to bother you” he says and starts to leave.
“Wait! It is my fault. I fought with my mom and went out from my house all day long”
“Ohhh. I hope you are okay”
“Thank you, I start to feel better know. Well, why are you alone?”
“I don’t have someone to be with”
“I don’t understand”
“My fathers died from a car accident and I don’t have brothers. I have little house and I work to survive”
“Sorry,” Sofia says feeling bad.
“Don’t worry,” Jaime answers.
“And the school?”
“I can’t go to school”
Sofia sees how there are some people that are in a worse situation than hers.
“Thank you” Sofia says.
“For what?” Jaime asks.
“I just realized that my situation is not so bad”. She says and starts to leave.
“Are you leaving?”
“Yes, here is my phone number. I like to be with you” She says and gives him her phone number.
“Me also, I will call you tomorrow afternoon”
“Okay”
Sofia leaves and arrives to her home. She apologizes with her mother by forgetting her birthday and her mother apologizes also. The next day, Sofia calls Jaime. Both start to be very good friends. Some months later, they start to date.
