The girls shown on the TV screen,
Experts telling how to be thin,
Reminders, we need a white grin.
Everywhere we turn to look,
All we need is this "how to" book,
This diet works, that one fails,
Time to tan, so we don't look pale.
Messages come from every source,
Telling us beauty is the course.
Doesn't matter what is inside,
If we look good, fear we can hide.
The time will come when that won't work,
Fear, despair, aren't content to lurk.
Time to look below the surface,
Dig deep, allow healing for us.
Look to the world, we'll never heal,
Heart of the child, we must get real!
Healing will only come from God's love,
His heart in ours, not just above!
When we use God's Word to live,
A truer picture it will give,
Healing takes place from inside out,
The beauty is God's,
and we can finally shout!
