Over My Head

I was only ankle deep,

      When I first stepped in,

The waters came on,

      Forgiving my sin.

Then up to my knees,

      With another step,

I learned of his joy,

      And with joy I wept.

Up to my waist,

      I found myself,

Learning to lean on Him,

      Finding out about His wealth.

Over my head,

     I jumped in,

Swimming in His love,

     And His power from within.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this one as a teenager, in 1982.. . the meaning is so much more for me now than then ... funny, what was waist deep at 18, was ankle deep at 25, and what was over my head at 25 is now ankle deep as God continues to call me in deeper and deeper in His love.
