I found my soul
in a negro spiritual
as the eyes of my nation
looked down upon me
the heart of a leader
reached out to me
from his new stone perch
jaw dropping as it was
for me
came our
indirect introduction
one of us walked away
I dare say
never the same
he left his imprint upon
the world
when I was still but a toddler
and again 4 decades later
he made that same
conquest with me
I feel so proud knowing
America finally erected a
statue in your
unforgettable honor
there in DC..................
