an alluring trumpet
elicits lavish tears
denuded aches
chanting their
cranky misfortunes
scars behind the eyelids
bespeak of the timeless near
in all solemnity
subtle promises are repaid
rapid homages keen
to be untidy
fools then walked
forever upright again
grovelers no more
damned and blessed be
