MY MILLION DOLLAR SWOOP

Folder:
JOURNAL #39

a glassy eyed beauty
she sure was
just as I remember
her to be
all blue with a swirl of
milky white
that hugged from behind
the faintest hint of
dark mystery
in the depths
of her large perfect belly
pride lived in my tiny right
arm back then
I was Svenghali himself
and didn't even know it
while
I owned that luscious gem
and everyone in my neighborhood
wanted her
and fought to win her
but I ever remained
Victorious
and held her closest and dear
in of all things
a pair of ratty old electric lime green
cut off shorts
that Mommy sewed two plaid
pockets on the front of each hip bone
just so to keep all my little treasures
in
and
she was mine
'My Million Dollar Swoop'
the best Marble that ever came out
of that gumball machine
in the ole Jet store
way back in 1972...................
muahhhhhhh
here , ya wanna kiss her for luck
( yanks her back ) too bad
now fella's let's play serious
for a sweep!
it's just too dang bad
I lost her to 'Dennis the Pray menace'
(I think)
that very next summer in 73
oh well...........................

Author's Notes/Comments:

a very fond early childhood memory of playing marbles and how I got a Shooter that I prized dearly but then lost it in a marble game...........I never played marbles again. It taught me a valuable lesson at a very young age. Never gamble with something you hold so very dear or you may lose it. It was a very solid lesson taught to a very wide eyed kid. One I would carry on through far into my adulthood. I can see that only now and I realize the seed from which grew the reason I never much cared for gambling.
