sometimes
hatred can sound
a lot like love
tone is
the transistor
for all points
of intense emotion
and yet
without the correct frequency
true connection
is unsustainable
remote
and utterly
disappointing
attempt after attempt
is made
until the attempted
connecting points
become frayed
fragile
and numb to any
real sense
of commitment
and true belonging
and into the abyss
we subsequently fall
helpless
hopeless
and drifting
ever nearer
the edge of what can
never be again................
