HORIZON'S THIRST

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

gradually
the sun breaks open
the shell of the night
the earth and skyline meet
displaying in their joy
an ocean of lavender hues
softly tipped up
as if it is being gently drank
from a maestro's goblet
such a lovingly offered libation
heat via the energy's light
blooms voluptuous
vibrantly sharing such sight
in magnificent metaphor
the night has been drained away
by the sun's own greed and
the 'Horizon's Thirst'
in pulsing, glittering defeat
the stars in turn
back respectfully away..............

Author's Notes/Comments:

I had witnessed earlier that morning a wondrous lavender hued pre sunrise event and that sight marinated in my mind for many hours until later in the afternoon this poem began to form in my mind. It was like watching a master artist paint a movable painting. Quite stunning to behold. I felt so utterly blessed to be given that scene in the early morning sky to pay homage to. Enjoy!
