My Dad's Inherited Car Prose Poem

My Dad’s “inherited” car

My Grandfather on my dad’s side bought a car in 1963; it was a beautiful Mercedes-Benz SL 230 imported directly from Germany. As much as he enjoyed driving it, tragedy struck in 1967 when he crashed it, and my grandfather sadly died. My dad was barely seven years old when this happened. The car was totaled but salvageable and my dad’s uncle decided to buy it and fix it for his own use. After some time he got bored of it since he lived an opulent lifestyle and he decided to move on, leaving the car in a lot in Laredo Texas, during its stay in Laredo, the car suffered water damages from hurricanes and slowly deteriorated over time. Some time passed and my dad’s uncle decided to reacquire it, and restored it to practically new conditions. Then, in 2004, my dad decided it was time to claim what was rightfully of his family and struck a deal with his uncle to get the car. He has since been the sole owner of it and treats it with special care, it is a possession with a lot of emotional and monetary value, that my dad would not trade anything in the world for.
