Through the Valley

So, this is life
And we walk through it alone
With all our friends
in our pockets on our phones.
We only pray
When the sun's been gone for days...
When every season
Of our favorite shows have played,
And when every friendship
With those we think we need have frayed.
Do we keep walking
While empty hearts spin broken wheels?
And wondering if our lives ever have been real?

Alone again,
With my iPhone in my hand
And 2000 facebook friends
Who think they understand.
But, chasing dreams
Is more costly than it seems.
And you only have one cow
To trade for magic beans.
The hopes of what's still not
Are running out of steam.
So most castles in the sky
Untouched, just blocking out the sun.
We always curse rewards
We almost could have won.

So, beer tonight,
Cuz we've long been out of wine.
No fears to fight,
Cuz we've long been out of line.
The valley was dark,
But He always walked with us.
But since I ran scared,
I've had no one left to trust.
No happy thoughts
Can't fly for all this pixy dust.
Now, If I return
It will be with tales to tell
Of murky waters
And the long road back from hell.
