Dr. King and Malcolm X…I want my man to come from the best but now it’s more lie illiterate rapper or king of the triple x I’m now putting my mind to the test thinking of how my man should be fighting for rights and equality not running the streets disrespecting himself and me; philly blunts stuffed with weed glasses tall and filled with something the color of sweet tea is this the life you want your son to lead or should your daughter spread her legs for every Tyrone, Dewayne and Hakeem she sees…better yet is this the example you want to leave for their young minds to devour I sit and I think hour after hour wondering why is it so easy for some black men to act like such cowards; fearless and strong is what you claim to be but when it comes down to responsibility the only strong one is me; right or wrong you’d rather sit and listen to sad ghetto love songs about the ups and downs of a young black man…it’s time for you to take a stand and release your voice…but keep in mind that it’s your choice.
