when it comes time for this day

I know i say i dont care

when you dont invite me to things



I know i say i dont love you

but your my daddy either way

I know i say i hate you

and i have legitimate reasons to



I know i ache

when you dont listen to me cry

I know i shudder

when you hug me or even glance my way



I know i am angry

but i know i should forgive you

I know i am sad

but i shouldn't let tears run my life



I know i have problems

when i see your face

I know i have trouble

when i listen to your voice



I know i was never the perfect child

but you should have learned to love me as is

I know i wasn't your favorite

but you should have loved us all equally



I know i never met your standards

when you wanted all straight A's

I know i didn't meet your goals

when i didn't make that basket during the game



I know i never let you down

but you sure let me down

but you lost connection with me
