Bryan and I by Uzoma Nwaekpe Rsq.
On our dangling way
Back from the well at Bakassi,
We set apart our load
Bryan and I
And with a quick row
Towards the chappel
Dashed we into St Mulumba's
Patiently, we kneel
Many sings of the cross made
Lest we are left alone.............
The confession of sins
The communion of saints
And our lives everlasting.
On that day Bryan,
You led me through my first stations of the cross
As I joined vicariously
In the Golgothic agonies of Christ
And on that same day Bryan,
At Coscharis theatre,
It was a Jurisprudence tutorial,
I had indicated, upon Dr. G.C's prompting,
That my two questions would be asked,
One after the other.............
And the learned jurist quipped:
Do ask both of them at the same time, lets see you,
And I fired on with that critic of Prof. Hart's soft positivism...........
After class on that day Bryan,
As I sat on Shaibu's bench,
You tapped my shoulder and said to me:
"Questions are like everything else we do in life,
We ask them one after the other...."
And I could not agree more!
O'Bryno my friend.
