Walking down the moonlit street,
Cool air bites at your face.
You alone with only the footsteps and wind in your head.
Leaves rustle in the cold breeze.
I watch my breath in the air,
Before it disappears into darkness.
I walk down the path,
With only the moon to light my way.
I don’t think about how I got there,
Only about where I might be heading.
The trees reach out, close in around you.
Alone with your thoughts,
Alone with the moon and the wind.
I hope no one finds me,
For once I want to be left alone.
Time to think, time to remember,
Soon clouds darken the silver light,
The path disappears beneath my very feet.
Suddenly the branches surround you,
You’re lost in the darkness, reaching out for the path.
This is the price you pay,
For never sharing what you want with the people you care about.
