Feet meet concrete
Gears turn clockwise
Thick wood blocks my path
Still I push on
Fallen tree after fallen tree
I duck dodge and jump
Tree after never ending tree
I am damaged by the falls
Finally there is a clearing
Feet meet silt
This sound more rapid and urgent
As I reach the clearing, I see something unnoticed before
A vast body sits before me
Further than my eyes can see
Still I must push on
Here the real journey begins
I swim; adrenaline pumping
Arms moving in rhythm with feet
Eventually I see it: A massive piece of land
Safety and happiness
I reach the land and stand up triumphant. Then dive right back in
I sink quickly to the bottom: a naive smile stuck to my cheeks
Into the abyss
