words that could roll of the tongue
in silence is hung
away from all that is real
anything to not feel
sail this ship to a distant place
far away from time and space
look back at life through a telescope
dreaming about memories of hope
behind these empty walls
thoughts echo through the halls
let no one in or out
no one can hear me scream and shout
no one can hurt me anymore
that's what these walls are for
no force in the world can penetrate it
a space where only I fit
at the end of the day
I am safe from the fray
talking to shadows of myself
putting my heart on the shelf
I've locked myself inside
and swallowed the key to hide
now that the pain has subsided
the hate is divided
forget about my favorite mistake
this heart is not anyone's to break
behind these walls
my future calls
in thoughts of a better mind state
these walls I did create
all the thoughts that could be words
just fly way like birds
turning away in regret
of all the things I will never forget
moving along on my own
for in this life I was meant to be alone
