I Talked to It

Folder:
Book I: Part III

I talked to it

I couldn’t believe it

I talked to it

I wish you could have seen it.

I told it people fight for power

It told me it was slavery it abolished,

I told it we had two standing towers

And then they were demolished.

It told me you could sit anywhere on that bus

Because it’s the little things that lead to better,

I told it racism is so existent in us

And the only thing that changes is the weather.

It told me it had a dream

And I wish all dreams came true,

Everyone is seeing, nobody believing

They just do what others do.

It told me you could be the only of your color on the field

And it told me it changed the face of the game,

I said I wish you could see what’s real

I wish it still existed outside the hall of fame.

I talked to it

It gave me this story,

What is it I talked to?

I talked to history.
