Holding Pattern

I don’t know

Maybe

We’ll have to see.

The rain may come.

I wouldn’t want

To inconvenience you.

You won’t ever marry me

So I should probably walk out.

It would be great to see you

But I don’t think that you’ll come over.

I’ll be alone again

Just like last night

And the night before.

I’m tired of playing

To your fickle heart.

It’s like this

Then that

And I’m left spinning

On my knees

Begging you for affection.

I tell you that one day

You may awake to find me gone.

You laugh and ask,

‘Where would you go?’

Far away

Where none knows my name

And you’ll never find me.

You won’t be able to haunt me

And get me to fall again.

I would find me someone.

Someone who would love me always

Not just when he wishes.

Someone who would walk for me

As far as I would for him.

‘I’ll pack your bags for you,'

You smile.

Everything is a game to you.

But I’m not playing

Not anymore.
