I Know Jack

Dear Kelly, our stories just don't end the same way. I'm sorry it had to end like this

In this world we live
Caught in our own self-images
Echos turn into screams
Haunting moments are now memories

In your hands, hearts you hold
Love was just a lie you sold
I'm your long lost albatross
And I'll stop you at any cost

I had to clean this city up
Stop the ones who sold our love
You took my heart and ran away
Not easy for me to say

Dirt and grime, have been washed away
Laid on the streets of yesterday
I watch these stars burn so bright
These city lights will burn the sky

I'm sorry it had to end like this
Cold breath of one last kiss
Now quarters lay on your eyes
To pay the boat when he arrives

I had to clean this city up
Stop the ones who sold our love
I took your heart and ran away
Not easy for me to say
