She hands him a dish of peeled oranges. "Might wanna eat slow. You had a hard time gettin that banana down yesterday."
He couldn't recall any banana or a yesterday either. "Yesterday? I don't remember yesterday at all."
"Probably a good thing. You had a rough time of it. Anyway I forced a banana into you... had to mash it down. Best to eat fruit when you're comin off a fast."
"A fast?"
"Yeah. You haven't eaten for 2 days and I don't know how many before that. Do you?"
He looks around the room, shakes his head confused.
"No worries, maybe it'll come back to you later." She pets the fluffy white dog sitting on the floor next to her "This here's Luna. She might look all cute n sweet but really she's a ferocious beast. You're lucky. She seems to have taken a liking to you. Hasn't much left the side of your bed since you arrived. Think I'm a little jealous. Never seen her protective of anyone but me. Not that I ever get much company." The dog looks at him worriedly, then lays its head down between its front paws and lets out a whiny sigh.
"Do you have a name friend?"
He looks up as if to examine the inside of his own head, "I imagine I must".
"Well you can call me Sister. Everybody does."
He stares at her, mesmerized by the red dot on her forehead.
"That's my third eye" she says as if reading his mind which wasn't all that hard considering he was staring a hole right through that dot. "All the better to see you with my dear" she bats her eyelashes at him.
He speaks haltingly as if having difficulty forming words, "Yeah I had a strange dream while I was out. You were sitting cross-legged on the floor right there where you are now and you were pink and the whole room was pink like you were a lightbulb and you opened your eyes and your 3rd eye too and they shot green rays into my eyes and I felt peaceful and safe."
She gets up, laughs, "Oh that was no dream darlin. Eat up... lay down... I'll come check on you later. Luna you comin or stayin?" The dog looks at its mistress then back at him, gets up follows her out of the room.
"Hey, how did you get me into the house?"
"I'm alot stronger than I look" she winks and closes the door.
He looks down at the orange sections, artfully arranged, like sunshine on a plate, lifts a piece to his mouth, chews slowly, thinks it is the most delicious thing he's ever tasted in his life.
