The Book

Staring at the picture – was that me?

Did I once hold that book so firmly?

A few months old, I couldn’t see

I would grow to despise its word so fiercely

Walking this road –it’s been my own

No other way I can condone

That book in hand, hand-built for drones

I shall not be its fucking clone

Two-thousand years against mankind

Snaring us all in a poison bind

Pull the veil away – I think you’ll find

A clever ruse to keep us blind

“Love your neighbour as you love yourself”

But what if he’s conspiring against my health?

That notion taints the term ‘love’ itself

Promiscuous spirits in abundant wealth

“Love no other higher than I”

But what have you done except sit in the sky?

Ensnaring the multitudes with your lie

Extolling your subjects to conform or die

You rationalise the worst abuse

You deify the trait of being obtuse

Your sovereign gospel serves as a noose

To strangle those you deem refuse

You sanction rape and genocide

Your casualties have multiplied

Freedom of thought you must deride

Lest it kill you like pesticide

My life is mine, now free of you

I’ve jettisoned your twisted view

Cast off the dogma, start anew

I need no faith to know what’s true
