Over Easy

Folder:
Poems 2005

Youngin',
over easy instead of hard boiled, you walked
under the sidewalk until you finally reached the beginning.
Venom displaced itself in your footsteps
even when you treaded lightly.

Lean in a bit now, Darling.
Early tomorrow the moon will dance with the sun until the
feathers of the doves drift silently to the sandy shores of
the water that laps at your ankles.

Memories are always bittersweet,
even if you add a tad of honey to the bile.

Absinth rides sweet on your tongue as you
gouge a path in the sand an
arms length from any thoughts that could
ignite the charcoal left over from that
night we claimed the universe as ours.
