My father has many watches, but there is a special one, one he treasures very much, he keeps it on his safe, even though it’s not very expensive. He takes it out only for very important events such as his 25th wedding anniversary, or the opening of a new business. There is one thing though, he uses his old treasured watch every Sunday when we visit my grandmother, and takes it off the moment we are back home, I know this watch has accompanied my father everywhere; his wedding, his first business, bankruptcy, grandpa’s funeral, my baptize, a new successful business and many other places and events. Everything he buys, he gives to the family, but not his watch, everything he has, he lends, but not his watch, this one thing is only his, kind of like Romero’s shirt. When I was a kid he once told me that with this watch he would never miss one moment, that it measures the perfect time. There are many things I don’t understand and will never do, like why this silver watch I’ve seen only in my father’s wrist, this special watch, a watch that hasn’t worked in 20 years, a broken watch, its so important.
