I cannot love you

if I rely on you

for my survival.



It is only when

I acknowledge that

I don’t need you

that I realize

I can’t live without you.



But I must resolve

to believe that

this may not last forever,

and if it didn’t

I would endure.



I do not need another person

to feel complete;

I am enough.
