You said you had tough skin
in more ways than one.

You shave against the grain
and never make yourself bleed.

Your heart has been hardened too.

Your past gave you no choice;
it left you with a thick shell
and I can't scratch the surface.

Well I have delicate skin.

I bruise easily
but physically

and emotionally.

Please be careful
with my heart.

It's a fragile thing
that's been through enough.

Nowhere near what you have
but I've always been
the sensitive type.

Be gentle when
you handle my heart.

I don't know if it can
survive another heartbreak.
