For the 20 few years I have known my grandfather I have come to appreciate the magnificent yet simple life he has chosen to live. He has gotten far by his own two feet by working hard and spending little. My grandfather is chief director of a successful construction company formed by him, three of his sons and my father. Even though my grandfather is economically well established he chooses to own very few material things one of this being a unique pair of shoes that I personally think were his favorite, he would use them daily and would get him anywhere. A simple pair of comfortable brown shoes that for many people would go unnoticed, but if looked over carefully you could see how worn out they were. But of course you had to look carefully he would always have his shoes polished and in impeccable conditions. A few months ago my mother came to me with a bag full of shoes; she said that they were from my grandfather who because of his age could not give them good use anymore. I could not help myself of thinking if that unique pair of shoes was one of them. She wanted to know before giving them away for charity if I would want any of them. To my surprise the unique pair of brown shoes were there. I took them without thinking twice, I polished and cleaned them. And could not help myself think of the idea that I was walking on the shoes of the man I admire the most, my grandfather. To the date I still use these shoes and have become a very personal heritage my grandfather has left me, it might not be a Rolex, a car, or money but they are the shoes that led my father to the man he is today and the man I wish to be tomorrow. I hope that his shoes might lead me in the right direction and hopefully in a really distant future when my grandfather is not here with me anymore he can keep on living threw me, threw my accomplishments and threw the places I get to.
