Every year, my grandmother, according to the festivity she decorates her entire house, literally. Any time of the year, her basic decoration are chocolates. You can find them in the kitchen, living room, and in the dinning room. These chocolates, that can be Snickers to Ferrero Roche’s, change according to the celebration of the month. In February, heart chocolates, in April, Easter eggs chocolates. Her best decorations are shown in Halloween and Christmas Eve. It’s a shame that I didn’t really got to enjoy all of the toys when I had the age to. This was because when I was younger I didn’t use to visit my grandmother that often but I can tell by my younger cousins that they really enjoy having any kind of toys around. This is because each one plays different kinds of music and dances according to what its playing. The toys of the typical Santa Clauses, penguins, bears, even fairies. The fairies, to the present, continue to freak me out. Those are porcelain dolls and I really can’t stand the eyes of those. Aside of the toys, she includes lights, flowers, ceramic figure and even ambientation music in and out the house. During Halloween, the sounds are as if you were inside a horror house and during Christmas you hear the typical carols. And as I said, this is not just in inside. Outside the house there are always lights that change their lighting intensity according to the rhythm of the songs playing on the porch. As you turn on her street you can easily guess which one it is from all. The lights are that intense. I believe that she does these enormous decorations because she might feel alone most of the time and is a way to distract herself. In the family we are used to her ways of doing this. This habit that she has is even shown in the dishes that she prepares. Always doing everything big. She has told us that most of the time she doesn’t have anything to do and because of this she is always making friends. The neighbors always go inside, most of them are kids because they want to get some of the chocolate that seems to never come to an end. The thing with her is that physically she seems to be really serious and kind of grumpy but she really is not any of those things. She keeps her house that way not actually for her but for us, her grandchildren.
