Brooding
On the morning that you left me
I got up an hour before
I wanted to be standing there
When you walked out that door
And now you’ve left me here
Cold, alone and numb
Wondering what to do now
I’m feeling kind of dumb
On the morning that you left me
I had a bite to eat
Showered, dressed, and left this room
Where we used to meet
I walked along the lonely road
Holding thoughts we used to share
A smile just touching on my face
We made up quite a pair
We laughed about such silly things
We talked from inside our souls
You’re being gone is hard on me
It weighs a heavy toll
I try to remember happy times
The times we used to chill
But my loneliness just echoes here
The silence is so still
Someday I’ll smile once again
Someday I’ll realize why
You had to go to do your thing
Realize I shouldn’t cry
But sitting here in this lonely room
Sitting in this despair
Just reminds me of how much I need you
Because friends like you are rare
