Thick

Thick

The air is thick today
Makes it hard to travel through
Flattened sounds in this
Dense Earth
Muffled in a way
So soft these thoughts
Can’t get through
A bird’s whistle changing pitch
Lighting it up and muffled a
Cough
Breaking through now
Showing blue electrical hums
Behind a wall
Pushed where space loses volume
And the mass
Is a constant signal
Trying to break though

Break On Through
To the inside
The chicken’s on the other side
Of a dead-end road
Standing still in the thickened air
Deaf to all the decibels from the
Outside timelines
Screaming quietly on the
Western front
Signaling for the blind wise man
Through the foggy haze of the
Thickened day before tomorrow
Coming on quickly at
No moment’s haste
Carrying blue upon her shoulders
To raise the volume under the
Constant mass so now
An Eagle shrieks in the sky
Scaring the Lizard
Bathing next to him
Carrying blue upon his belly
To within a fallen tree
Or sawn by man
Who weaves a concrete carpet
Upon our Mother
Sailing steel hawks into
The blue who
Breathes life, bends light
Encompasses, encloses, surrounds
Gives meaning behind what
You see where you must
Struggle to breeze upon the
Prairie shaped like a palm
Muted robotic cry in the
Lightened space
Between where you stand
And the birds swim
In the day after yesterday
A thicker day
