In life

We are consumed

By the glitz

And the glamour

Of the shiny

New things

We only think

We need

Bigger

Better

Faster

Shinier

Newer 

Pointless things

We are convinced

When we don't

That we need

And for some 

The more exspensive

The better

Because it's

All about

The social status
That imaginary thing 

That really only

Means something

Because we let it 
When society

Tell me

When will we get it
That none of that shit
Will ever mean
In reality
As much as we
Have convinced
Ourselves it does
We need to stop
Trying to out do
Each other
Just to make
Ourselves
Feel better

And feel
Important
And focus on
Doing things
That are actually
Important for a change
Like oh I don't know
Maybe helping each other more
And making the world a 
Better place
Because believe me

Those things
Will always be
Important
But you know
What should never be
You guessed it

The superficial
Bullshit
That is
Social status
