Ducky

Ducky…

wanted to prove to all the
kittens that he
deserved to be in the Quack-a-Doodle club.
For unlike them, he was actually
A duck.

Ducky wanted to wear the
Quacker patch on his tufty tummy.
He wanted to puff up with pride as the other
kittens put their paws to their
pointed ears and saluted his excellence.

He deserved to be the Duke of Ducks.
Those kittens
were just posers wearing
plastic beaks to hide their whiskers
and seahorse floaties because
they couldn’t swim. Ha!

Sometimes the girlie kittens would even put on
elastic swim caps to flatten their ears because
“A Duck-o-fide exterior shows a
true Quack-a-Doodle heart.”

But Today
Ducky was gonna show them.

He felt his flippers go
flip flop as he waddled across
the moist sand towards
the huddled kittens planning their next
club social.

Their fuzzy faces and
Bambi eyes turned to him
as he stopped
And let out the most ferocious sound he could make:

*meow*

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is a poem about a duck who wants to be in a club of kitten pretending to be ducks. This was inspired by the movie Constantine in which os female lead has a pet cat named Duck.
