Against the World

Words of hatred fill her mind

An invisible hand strikes her cheek

Her whole body fills with rage

She refuses to remain the meek

What of the days of innocence?

Do they even continue to exist?

For now she stands ready to fight

Should the things that hurt her dare to persist

Alone she stands determined

Pushing away those who try to help

Yet in her mind it is clear

To go on alone in pain she'll yelp

Moving on isn't easy to do

But she must learn to trust what she hates

Remembering what she knows of this world

Open up her soul and unlock the gates

Author's Notes/Comments:

And maybe she hates the world, but as long as we live here, we may as well learn to deal with it and trust it, right? No one will ever stop anyways...
