O’ where were you, when daylight died,
while widows wept, and children cried,
as evil’s veil crept far and wide,
we wondered ‘bout tomorrow
Perhaps you saw those towers fall,
goliaths lost in smoke’s thick pall,
appearing helpless, seeming small,
we knelt in grief and sorrow.
O’ where were you, when faith was torn,
tho’ disbelieving, paused to mourn,
yet ’midst the pain resolve was born,
to start anew tomorrow.
Three-thousand souls endured a hell,
as hopes and dreams and purpose fell.
We heard the toll of heaven’s bell,
and bowed our heads in sorrow.
O’ where were you, that fateful day,
when Satan’s hope was turned away,
and freedom’s children knelt to pray,
for hope and peace tomorrow
If I should live a hundred years,
I’ll still recall the horrid fears,
and see a nations heartfelt tears,
remembering the sorrow.
