I am the creature, lurking behind you

The one that follows you in the night



I feel your heart race when I’m in your presence

You turn around but no one’s there



You start to run, checking behind you

You don’t even know what you’re running from



It is me that you try to run from

There is no sense, I’m always there

I have you in the palm of my hand

I squeeze you and I make you scream



Understand child, you cannot see me

But don’t worry, I’m always there



I’m under your bed, and in your closet

I can see you, I know you’re there



Don’t hide your head under your blanket

And make believe that you’re not scared



Run away and tell your mommy

Tell her you’re scared and sleep in her bed

Low and behold I’m right there beside you

There’s no running away, I thought you knew.



Death looks upon you and you know it’s time

Your futures come and you’re all alone



You shall depart, depart a stranger

To all the things you were never shown



Let life go by as you stayed in your shell

You were afraid, afraid of the unknown…



It is me that you try to run from

I am fear, I am everywhere

I run your life, make your decisions

I am within you, I am fear



Can’t you see that it’s all in your mind?

I am fear, fear of the unknown.
