When he first knew he loved her…he was too shy to let her know
too timid to overcome his fears…
so each night he whispered ‘I Love You’ on the wind
hoping it would find its way into her ears.
He would send ‘I love you’ upon the clouds…
as they floated on the morning breeze…
asking them to drop his message on her doorstep…if they please.
He sent ‘I love you’ on the beams of the moon in the evening
and on sun when the day was about to start
trusting they would find their way into her heart.
On the raindrops of summer, the falling leaves of fall
the winter snow and into rivers his words he’d toss
Hoping nature would assist him in getting his message across.
After they had been married a while…
No longer shy and filled with doubt…
“I have a question to ask you .” He said.
“Something I’ve often wondered about.”
“When did you realize I loved you?” He asked.
when did you definitely know?”
She sighed…
“When I heard your whispers on the wind in springtime.”
“riding on the clouds of summer,
on the the buoyant leaves of Autumn
and on the falling winter snow.”
These days he smiles when he thinks
how he hasn’t used nature to relay his message in years…
Now if he wants her to know how much he loves her…
He merely whispers ‘I love you’ into her ears.
