The other day we had probably the weirdest luck we’ve ever had…
because in a matter of minutes our luck kind of seesawed between both good…and bad.
It was bad luck that it was raining…in fact it started to pour…
but good luck we had our Subaru…so Deborah could drive me to the store.
After putting her key into the ignition, “The car won’t start.” She said.
Immediately we surmised it was bad luck…the battery was dead.
This was followed by a little more bad luck…”I can’t turn the key!”
was Deborah’s next remark
and as she struggled with the gear shift she screamed, ”It won’t go out of park!”
For some reason bad luck hit that morning as our car decided not to go…
but the good luck was we have GEICO road assistance…
so we went inside the house to call them for a tow.
As Deborah was on the phone with the GEICO liaison…
I went to check on our Subaru…
“More bad luck!” I yelled to Deborah, ”Our Subaru is gone!”
But I had some good luck finding her…it was not that difficult a feat.
She was resting in our neighbor’s front yard…just across the street.
“Good news Deborah!” I yelled, “She’s sitting on Leslie’s lawn!”
When I opened her door I realized she had somehow put herself in park…
and her headlights were now on!
On a whim I tried the key and, good luck, our Subaru’s came to life…
so I drove back into our driveway…where I met my somewhat bewildered wife.
As Deborah cancelled the tow truck…you might say she was beside herself…
trying to explain to GEICO…how our Subaru fixed itself.
The good news is Deborah drove me to work after our little bad luck scare
our Subaru not only got me there on time…but with a little time to spare.
We still wonder and laugh when we think about how our Subaru knew
not only how to repair herself…but if she had turned on our GPS
where she might have driven to.
She’s been working fine ever since our run of good luck…and bad luck…
and the next time there’s a problem…we will know
to give her a little time to fix herself…before we call a tow.
