It was a cool and windy morning. Autumn had arrived, and all the leaves at the park were afraid. From the start of the season the blowing wind had been knocking them off from their branches, and they were too old and orange to resist.
The wind blew through the branches of a particularly large tree. One leaf fell. The wind blew once again. A second leaf fell just behind the first.
The first one was deeply scared. He knew what came next. He had saw it way too many times. Next was the break down., the moment went you have been separated from your branch too long and your whole body starts to crumble. With all its strength resisted the wind, it almost looked as it it was falling on slow motion.
The second one, however, did not seem to care that much, and as it fell it started to ride the wind, falling faster, but beautifully.
Despite his fear, the first leaf got so shocked by the attitude of his fellow “traveler” and asked in a rather high volume:
—Dear Lord! What are you doing!
—Haven’t you got eyes to see? I am surfing the wind.
—Don’t you know that if you do that you are gonna fall sooner!
—Of course I know! Do you take me for some kind of moron?
—Well… Yeah! —Said the first leaf— I mean, why are you doing that?
—why?... obviously… because it feels good!
The first leaf had put on quite the perplexed face.
—and besides, we are going to hit the ground anyways!
…
Mary closed her book, and with warm eyes looked at her son.
—So… —she began—, who do you think was right?
—What do you mean?
—who do you think lived the best.
—Like hell I know. They both ended up dead anyways.
—Dammit! You are too much like your father.
