I Love

I love. Do you?

I once thought love was waiting,

I once worried it wont come,

I sought a bond of unity,

Where two souls would be one.

Each time my love encompassed her,

My love felt right as rain,

Each time I dove head first in bliss,

Elation turned to pain.

What is it in these instances,

that causes love to fail?

How can so many differences,

Keep love from turning pale?

The answer is that love is love,

conditionally free,

This love is not sparked by someone,

This love lives inside me.

Don't question why it won't work out,

when love can't go both ways,

Just love as you're accustomed to,

Love all things all your days.
