Perhaps I was never meant to be the center of anyone’s story,
Nor was my name ever meant to be whispered in anyone’s prayers.
Maybe I was only destined to pass through unnoticed,
Like a faint light touching a tinted window.
Perhaps I was the final page of a weathered book,
Closed before the reader ever reached my name.
Maybe I am no more than a supporting character
Passing through countless scenes unseen.
Perhaps I was never meant to remain at the center of anyone’s story,
But only a small chapter in someone else’s journey;
If I helped them find the courage to keep walking,
Then my humble existence was never in vain.
Perhaps my silence simply outgrew disappointment,
Even as my hands remained open in kindness.
I learned that love need not be celebrated—
A blessing that asks for nothing in return.
Perhaps I was never meant to be remembered...
Or maybe I was only meant to leave a little light behind.
