Finding My Way Back

I’m finding my way back to you,

Yet somehow I always end up lost,

Like a traveler with a blank map,

Empty pockets, and borrowed plans.

Maybe that void has always lived within me.

Maybe it’s woven into who I am.

Or maybe I’ve carried it for so long

That I no longer know where it ends and I begin.

Sometimes my heart gathers thunder

As nimbus clouds roll on the horizon.

Some days my spirit begins to falter,

Weathered by old misfortunes and past mistakes.

Still, I choose another reckless step,

Even when the road refuses to make sense.

I’m finding my way back to you—

And perhaps, in finding you,

I’m finally finding my way back to myself.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Sometimes the hardest journey isn’t finding another person—it’s finding yourself after years of feeling lost.
