What the Rain Keeps

If no one sees you cry,

You can say it was raining outside;

Let the forgiving sky take the blame

For what your chest couldn’t reveal.

You can stand by the translucent window,

Watching the glass blur your reflection;

Each drop carries your secret

And agrees to conceal it.

And when the storm finally passes,

There's nothing left to explain;

You step out dry and unchanged...

While the rain remembers everything.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem is about disguising pain in plain sight, letting it pass as something ordinary so no one looks closer.
