Light Behind the Gray

On a frozen lake, I learned to stand,

Afraid each step might break the land;

Yet something in me kept moving,

Keeping time with my beating heart.

Beneath the endless midnight sun,

Where doubt and courage meet,

Like an old friend’s voice I almost knew,

Patient, steady, and quietly true.

And every shadow I’ve carried

Was never as hollow as it seemed;

There’s always light behind the gray,

A promise breaking through the haze.

Author's Notes/Comments:

It’s about realizing that even in the darkest moments, there’s still something in you choosing to stand.
