You said I couldn't come,
You said the notice was too soon,
You said I was uninvited,
You said there was no room.
You said so many things,
That sounded just like lies,
I bet you would've watched your words,
If you could've seen my eyes.
I had to make my own fun,
So I swallowed up my pride,
I made plans with a friend,
And I asked you for a ride.
And of course you did say yes,
Cause you were probably feeling bad,
You dropped me off outside his door,
Not even knowing I was mad.
You were driving to the party,
As I was taking off my coat,
You called me six hours later,
Just to talk to me and gloat.
"We're having so much fun," you said,
"The drinking game was crazy,"
As John and I sat sober,
On the couch just being lazy.
But we soon began our own fun,
As our comfort level grew,
It was started on the fouton,
And it ended in his room.
When you picked me up the next day,
You didn't seem to care,
You were too busy with your stories,
To see what wasn't there.
I never said a word,
My smile was my mask,
I would have told you something,
If you'd even thought to ask.
It was just misunderstanding,
But everything's got a cost,
And so you never knew,
That my innocence was lost.
