I thank you, Poet and Prophet, David, Beloved of Jonathan;

David, from whom descended (by the flesh) Christ, ascribed your Son:

I thank you for your glorious Psalmody,

and its presence in the Divine Liturgy,

and in the Gospels' accounts of Christ's earthward history.

Although false scholars seek to cast clods of obscurity

upon them, their presence in Orthodox spirituality

brings to it a vigorous and connective vitality.
