As waves of pleasure
surge through Toyo's eager flesh,
he releases his
sweetstuff to you: that is how

Author's Notes/Comments:
Basho met an innkeeper's son, Kumenosuke, when the young man was fourteen years old. Basho gave him the poetic appellation, Toyo. which means "young peach in the beauty of young peaches." Cf. Jane Reichhold's explication on p. 318 of her book, Basho.
