THE ROCK OF LAURA LEE
Dedicated to my mother "LAURA" (my father's rock.)
Standing on
the rock
of Lauralee
silently
looking out
to sea.
Heard the
howling of
the wind
as
it rushed
round the
bend.
Watched
your ship
sail out
to sea
leaving
the port
of Laura Lee.
Each day
I return
to view
looking
at the
ocean blue.
Scanning
the
horizon,
no ship
in sight,
perhaps
a phantom
in the
night.
Today I'm
standing
there
again.
watching
your ship
round the
bend.
Catching
you in
the
misty air,
my heart
leaps to
see you
there.
Once
again
coming
home
with
me,
returning
to the
Laura lee.
